The red works by Yu Hirai are an invitation to meditation and introspection. The Japanese photographer closes her eyes to look within, a spontaneous human gesture to exclude the outer world for a while. The line of her closed eye continues into the graphic decoration of Bruno Gambone’s vase, like a half-closed eye in the purity of an archetypal shape, resembling the simplicity of Oriental pottery.
